I lived in the academic universe from 2004 to 2020, most of it at University College London (UCL), latterly as an EPSRC Fellow and Lecturer. I have published papers in top academic conferences, received five Best Paper Awards, raised more than £2.5M from the European Commission, the EPSRC, Innovate UK and other public funding bodies.

In 2020, I jumped the fence and joined Protocol Labs as a Research Scientist leading research on IPFS, libp2p, Filecoin - and more broadly on the content-addressable, decentralised web.

Throughout my tenure at Protocol Labs, I led several research initiatives that materialised into protocols, protocol optimisations and significant cost savings. Then as an Engineering Manager, I led teams to distinguish clutter from substance, focus on what matters and advance the performance of protocols and networks.

I founded and lead the ProbeLab team. We design, secure and optimise protocols from measurement rather than intuition. We find out how decentralised networks actually behave, and tell the people building them what to change.

Standing the dashboard up is the straightforward (albeit not trivial) half. The hard part comes after: what to optimise, how, and whether the hypothesis held. Check our work at probelab.io .
